Last week we spent our Wednesday afternoon packing meals at Hunger to Hope, a satellite of the Kids Against Hunger organization that has made it their mission to end world hunger. Our volunteer crew of almost 40 people split into three assembly lines to pack the fully nutritious meals. Each of the teams worked together to fill, weigh, seal, and pack the meal bags. By the end of the afternoon we had packed over 15,000 meals.

Hunger to Hope has become a great passion of mine. Boones Creek Christian Church is home to Hunger to Hope Johnson City. As a member of BCCC, I have been packing meals since 2016. Our first packing event had a goal of 100,000 meals for those impacted by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. I organized a team from BCS to attend the packing event, and we helped reach that goal. Since then, I have organized BCS meal packs every year. It’s great to see my coworkers coming together to help fight such an important cause.

Kids Against Hunger and Hunger to Hope will ship the life-saving meals we packed to starving and malnourished children in developing countries and in disaster situations, as well as feed hungry children in the United States.
We had a great time contributing to the fight against world hunger and we can’t wait for our next meal pack!
