BCS employees donated $2600 to Isaiah 117 House and the Watauga County DSS Foster Care Fund that was then matched by the firm, leading to $7800 raised for the two programs that provide care and assistance to foster children and their foster families.

In February, we encouraged employees to donate to Isaiah 117 House and the Watauga County DSS Foster Care Fund, two programs that are providing care and resources to foster children and their foster families. The response was amazing! Employee donations topped $2600 and the firm matched those donations 2:1, meaning our total amount raised was about $7800.

[blockquote author=”” link=”” target=”_blank”]As a police officer, my husband has witnessed firsthand how difficult it can be for the children when they have to watch their parents be taken away in handcuffs. The process that follows is equally as difficult for the children as they are taken away from the only home they have ever known to a scary office where they have to sit for hours, sometimes overnight before they are placed in a foster home.[/blockquote]

Isaiah 1:17 says “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”

Isaiah 117 House makes it their mission to take up the cause and provide a comfortable and safe environment for children awaiting placement, but their care and compassion doesn’t stop at the red doors of their homes. They also provide foster care families with any additional items they need for the child such as car seats, beds, and school supplies. Similarly, Watauga County DSS in Boone, North Carolina has a Foster Care Fund they use to assist foster families in paying for big-ticket items such as car seats, swimming lessons, camp fees, or even therapies that insurance won’t cover.
